PC-TAG granted Sony Koov Educator Kits to our elementary TAG programs. Koov Kits connect coding and robotics, bringing coding to life and allowing students to solve real-world problems. Armstrong TAG students recently learned how to use Koov Kits with TAG teacher, Emily Pitts.

Armstrong first graders were the first students in Ms. Morgan's music class to use "Animated Boomwhackers," bringing tuned tubes to life to experience rhythm, melody, harmony, form, dynamics, and style. All students, Kindergarten through fourth grade, will benefit from these interactive DVDs courtesy of a grant from PC-TAG.
5th graders in Emily Green's science class dissected cow eyes to learn about the parts of the eye and their functions. The students were led through the dissections by retina specialist Dr. Deborah Chong and cornea specialist Dr. Jamie Alexander. Ms. Green says, "This experience has opened my students' eyes to all new possibilities!"
This great day of learning and experiencing science in House of Lockhart was made available through a grant from PC-TAG. Armstrong 4th graders communicate 1-to-1 with peers across the globe to collaborate on real-world STEAM challenges, thanks in part to a grant from PC-TAG for the Level Up Village course.
The PC-TAG Mad Science event was a huge success! Over 100 students and parents enjoyed a spectacular science-filled afternoon. Attendees were entertained and inspired by a Mad Science Show and many hands-on activities. Much fun was had by all!
After school on January 30th, members of the HPHS Robotics team gave a demonstration of their robots to elementary and MIS/HPMS students in the Raider Library. These VEX robots were partly funded by grants given by PC-TAG.
On Feb 18, fifty-two 4th graders across all four HPISD Elementary Schools met at MIS for a taste of middle school and a "Honky Tonk Takedown" murder mystery social event. This event was organized by PC-TAG's Elementary Campus Representatives. The tour was led by Daley Hilton (Explorations 5th/Creativity 6th) and several MIS/HPMS TAG students: Lindsey Haag (7th), Ellie Stager (7th) and Chloe Haag (5th). During the social event which followed after the MIS tour, students got dressed up for their randomly chosen characters and were asked to find the culprit. Congratulations to Nicholas from Hyer the lucky winner randomly selected among all who answered correctly! He received a custom printed T-shirt sponsored and designed by Big Frog of Park Cities. MIS TourPCTAG generously funded a unique, engaging learning opportunity for Mrs. Janik's TAG students on May 20. Her students heard two actors from the Shakespeare Company of Dallas through an educational program called Shakespeare on the Go: Speak the Speech: Shakespeare and the Spoken Word. During the performance in our HPMS auditorium, students participated by playing a word game with Shakespeare's invented words, listening to many partial, famous Shakespearean speeches from various plays (and the actors changed characters and costumes for each scene), practicing iambic pentameter, hurling Shakespearean insults, and practicing Shakespearean dialogue. This interactive learning experience connected well to the introduction to Shakespeare's language, plays, and patterns that Mrs. Janik taught in her TAG English classes.
